What is the Foreign Trade degree about?

In general terms, it is about foreign trade, services and goods that are destined for a country other than their country of commercial origin. Foreign Trade also refers to investing in foreign securities, although it is a less common use of the term. Foreign trade has to do with imports and exports. The backbone of any foreign trade between countries is the services and products that are traded elsewhere outside the boundaries of a particular country.

Some nations are adept at producing certain products at a profitable price. Perhaps it is because they have the labor supply or abundant natural resources that constitute the necessary raw material. No matter what the reason, the ability of some countries to produce what other nations want or need is the raison d’être of foreign trade.

In some cases, the products produced at one stage of foreign trade are very similar to other products that are produced around the world, at least in their raw form. Therefore, these products, known as merchandise, are often bundled together in a mass market and sold. This is known as commodity trading. The most common products that are often sold in foreign trade are oil and grain.

Is studying foreign trade the same as international trade? What is the difference?

The two races are very connected, although they are different. A graduate in foreign trade is usually in charge of controlling the management of goods in customs, that is, he controls what enters and what leaves and is also in charge of logistics. Foreign trade graduates usually work in ports, airports, etc.

A graduate in international business, for his part, is in charge of coordinating clients, seeking new contacts abroad, he must seek to improve relations between the company and clients, as well as between a country and other countries. He is also in charge of opening the doors to companies. This second career is more diplomatic since it works mainly with meetings with businessmen, etc.
