The Pharmacy career is being highly chosen in recent years by young people who have just graduated from school, unlike what happened in the past, which was taken as an option only by older people or already trained in another profession.
Norma has been a Pharmacist for a decade, today she has her own pharmacy and will tell us about her daily work.
Do you want to be a pharmacist?
─Why did you choose the Pharmacy for your working life?
─I studied nursing and I always worked in that profession. At one point I felt like I needed a change, but I didn’t want to get away from medicine, so I decided to study to be a Pharmacist. It cost me a little more than it did for the young people who took it, because I worked and because my attention span was no longer the same as it was at twenty, but I was able to do it and I am very satisfied.
─You opened a Pharmacy, but what is the occupational field to practice the profession?
─You can work in private Pharmacies, in Hospital Pharmacies and in the Pharmaceutical industry. Our training is not based on serving the public, but on knowing drugs, knowing how to carry out a sterilization process, etc., although many professionals end up on the other side of the counter.
─How is the degree completed?
─Too long. I believe that it is a career that could well last three years and the professionals would be equally qualified for their work. It is complete, we learn a lot of things, but I don’t know if it is justified that it lasts five years.
─What would you say to someone who thinks about studying Pharmacy?
─That you will learn a lot and that you will be highly qualified to work in the industry.
