“I always worked in the State, although at the same time I was linked to NGOs that allowed me to address problems that government agencies did not pay attention to. About to retire, I have been working for a decade in the area of judicialized population, taking care of the well-being of the inmates of the prisons in the area to make their stay less painful and their reincorporation into society more feasible. It is a very intense work of ours, but just as it consumes a lot of energy, it also satisfies us when we see its fruits. There are population sectors that society turns its back on seeking to make conflict and exclusion invisible. They need a sustenance, a hand, an orientation, and that is our main task. I am very pleased to find younger and younger people who are dedicated to what we do; it means that the germ of solidarity will continue to bear fruit ”, explains a Social Worker.

The occupational field of graduates of the Bachelor of Social Work is very broad, since in any private or public institution there are realities that need professional emotional support. Unlike psychologists, who detect problems after conversations with patients who seek their help, Social Workers are in charge of detecting problems in the sectors under their charge, analyzing them and making them viable in the best possible way. In addition, they investigate the impact of these situations on society in general and on the portion of the population to which the affected family or group corresponds. Among the tasks of the profession, is the advice on rights and obligations of people, awareness on different issues related to physical and psychological health care, assistance and protection of people affected by a social situation and the generation of containment plans and projects aimed at motivating active action.
