The Double Degree in Physics and Mathematics at the Complutense University of Madrid is the one with the highest cut-off mark for the 2019-2020 academic year, with 13,775
The Double Degree in Physics and Mathematics from the Complutense University of Madrid is the one with the highest cut-off grade for the 2019-2020 academic year, with 13,775, surpassing by very little the score obtained by this degree last year, which was 13,773 and which was the highest in all of Spain.
Also, the Single degree degree with the highest grade is, for the moment, one of the Humanities branch: that of Modern Languages and Translation from the University of Alcalá, Madrid, which includes a reservation of a place in an Official University Master’s Degree, and that you have recorded a score of 13,436. This high score is mainly due to the fact that only 5 places are offered for these studies.
The Degree in Basic and Experimental Biomedicine from the University of Seville registers the second highest cut-off mark (of the careers of a single degree) of the autonomous communities that have disclosed their qualifications, with a 13,420. This score is lower than the one registered by this same Grade last year, which was 13,311.
Usually, Medicine is the career that presents a higher cut-off mark than the rest of the degrees in the autonomous communities: in 12 of the 14 that have already released the admission grades, it occupies the first place in the list of degrees with the highest reference grade: Aragón, Asturias, Canarias, Castilla-La Mancha, Castilla y León, Comunitat Valenciana, Extremadura , Galicia, Balearic Islands, Murcia and Navarra.
Nevertheless, in Catalonia, the Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics has displaced Medicine as the one with the highest cut-off mark this school year, regarding what happened last year. On this occasion, Mathematics is crowned as the Degree with the highest score (12,854), when last year the Degree in Medicine at the University of Barcelona (UB), Campus Clinic, occupied that position with a cut-off mark of 12,824.
As the autonomous communities announce the cut-off notes, in Educaweb we will add information in this article and in the section related to the topic.
Double degrees that include a Mathematics degree, with the highest cut-off marks
By looking at the cut-off notes for degrees and double degrees (see table), it can be concluded that the latter they once again record the highest cut-off marks in all the autonomous communities who have made them known. Of these double degrees, those that include the title of Mathematics have registered the highest scores, as happens in 7 of the 11 communities that have announced the qualifications to access these studies.
For example, him Double Degree in Physics and Mathematics taught at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) registers for the eighth consecutive year the highest cut-off grade in Catalonia and the score needed to access increases each school year, according to data from the Secretary of Universities and Research of the Generalitat. In the 2018-2019 academic year, a 13,318 out of 14 was needed to enter, and currently a 13,418 is required to qualify for one of the 20 places on offer.
The same happens in the Double Degree in Physics and Mathematics offered by the University of Barcelona (UB), where only 20 places have been granted to these studies, which are only accessed with a cut-off mark of 13,340, when the previous course required 13,250 to be able to study it.
The double degrees they tend to attract many students “because they think that they will obtain two degrees with less effort, but that is not the case. A double degree implies greater dedication than that required by a single degree,” says María del Carmen García, Educaweb academic and professional counselor.
It should be remembered that, if the cut-off marks are usually higher in the double degrees, it is mainly due to the few places that are offered. Keep in mind that the cutoff note is an orientation that allows you to know the score with which the last student entered a race. Therefore, the grade varies depending on the grades of the students, as well as the demand and supply of these studies.
