mejor hora para estudiar the schedule in which you will perform at your best

Spending long hours studying for an exam is not something that everyone loves. If you want to spend less time on this task, it is important that you do it at the time when you are going to have the best possible performance. Today we tell you what is the best time to study. Stop wasting time!

Why look for the best time to study

As you progress in your school life, you will see that you need more and more time to prepare well for an exam. It is not the same to study a subject from school, than one from high school or high school. And of course, nothing to do if you are already in university and have an annual subject for which you must examine yourself.

Another reason to look for the best time to study is competitiveness. In a world where there is increasing competition for a job, you need to get the highest possible qualifications. Since you all have the same time to study, you have to look for small details that help you make better use of it. As you can imagine, one of those things that can give you a plus is to choose the time to study well. Now let’s see what are the best hours of the day to study and be able to perform at your best.

The best time to study

If you ask your classmates about the best time to study, they will each answer something different. There are those who think that it is good to get up early to make the most of the day. However, others consider the night to be a better option, since they are calmer and have fewer distractions.

What is clear and undeniable is that when we wake up we are full of energy and as the day progresses we get tired. This makes it early in the morning when our productivity index is highest. Obviously, this is true only if we have slept properly. Otherwise, we will be dragging the dream and it will cost us more to take off.

However, although the data points favorably that we should kneel in the morning, we cannot guarantee that it is the best for 100% of the students. There are many circumstances and factors that can work for or against. Here we list some of them so that you take them into account when deciding what is the best time to study in your situation:

Advantages of studying during the day

  • Especially in the morning, it is the time when you have the most energy.
  • Your biological clock will not go crazy as you will continue to keep your sleep hours unchanged.
  • You will enjoy natural light, which benefits your eyesight and your concentration.
  • In case you have doubts, you may be able to attend a tutorial from your teacher or send him an email and have him answer first.
  • Continuing along the lines of the previous point, you can also call or contact other colleagues, who will be awake.
  • Scientific studies reveal that this option is the most advisable. I discuss this matter in detail below.

Advantages of studying at night

  • Since they will be sleeping, both your friends and family will distract you less by phone, instant messaging or social networks.
  • Many libraries are open 24 hours a day during the exam period. At night you will find them calmer.
  • As you will have already done all the chores for the day, you will have fewer worries and you will be able to concentrate better.
  • Studying at night seems to help you see things differently. This will increase your creative capacity and approach you with a different point of view to the concepts you are studying.
  • If you don’t have a place of your own in your house where you can study, you can take advantage of the night to do it in the living room while everyone sleeps.
  • By studying and sleeping shortly afterwards, you will make your knowledge become entrenched in long-term memory.

As you can see, when someone looks for the best time to study, favorable arguments can be found for any time. In your case, you must analyze what circumstances surround you to be able to conclude which option is best for you.

What time is the best to study according to science

We have seen some assessments based on what many students think about when it is best to study. Now, we should not ignore what the experts in the field say. Let’s analyze some data:

If we browse a bit we can find opinions of reputed people such as Javier Taborda, who belongs to the Department of Educational Studies, University of Caldas. This man says that the best time to study is between 7 or 8 in the morning and noon. The reasoning he uses is that if we do it later, especially in hot climates, the temperature can negatively affect your performance. Also, after eating, you may feel drowsy.

Along the same lines but not exactly coinciding with the schedule, we find a study carried out by the University of Nevada that was published in 2017. In it we can read that the best time to study begins at 11 in the morning and lasts until 9:30 at night.

Tips for studying at night

As you may have seen, everything indicates that the best time to study is in the morning. However, if you had to do it at night, here are some tips:

  • Get enough sleep. That you do not sleep at night as much as you should, does not mean that you do not have to make up that time. Do it when you finish studying so that you can better anchor that information in your memory.
  • Set a deadline. Studying at night doesn’t mean you have to do it until dawn. Set yourself a reasonable schedule and study while you are able to continue learning. If you feel like you’re not moving forward, you might be better off going to sleep.
  • Illuminate the study area well. One of the biggest problems you will have is the absence of the Sun. Light the place where you are well so that you do not strain your eyes and get tired sooner.
  • Take breaks. As you would if it were daytime, take breaks from time to time. Get up, walk around and drink water to hydrate yourself.
  • Look for partners like you. If possible, find out which classmates are also going to study at night. This way you will know who to ask in case you need it.

My opinion as a student

The time has come for me to tell you about my experiences as a student related to this topic. Throughout the many years in which I had to prepare for the exams, I had to face various situations.

On some occasions I prepared myself with a lot of time, being able to study during the day and without affecting my routine. Other times, several exams were put together and I was forced to study at all hours. Although it is true that I got to approve both kneeling elbows in the morning and in the afternoon and at night, I did notice differences.

Personally, I would recommend that you stick to the aforementioned best time to study as much as possible. Start decisively in the morning, after having slept your 8 hours and having a proper breakfast. You may want to take a look at this article on food to study and get better grades. Surely this will clarify your doubts.

In the event that you decide to study in the afternoon or you can only do it in that period of time, I do advise you to eat lightly so that you do not feel heaviness and you can find out better what you are reading. If you get sleepy and want to take a nap, make sure it doesn’t last too long; 15 or 20 minutes will be enough to regain strength. Sometimes I would fall asleep for two hours and when I got up I had a hard time concentrating because I was still sleepy.

In conclusion, unless it is a situation of extreme need, take advantage of the day as much as you can, especially the morning and sleep at night, which is what it is for. And if you want to spend a lot of time, you should spend most of it in the morning, a light study session in the afternoon, and a brief review just before bed.
